Hello, my name is Josie and three weeks ago I was diagnosed with triple negative, grade 3 breast cancer, I am only 35 years old. After feeling all the emotions I could possibly feel, I am now feeling hopeful and due to start my chemotherapy on 17th December. I have been given a thorough run down of my side effects and need to gather some supplies to help manage this, this includes things like a reliable thermometer to monitor my temperature, suitable creams for my skin and things to keep my hands and head warm for when the inevitable hair loss begins. I am a single parent to my son, so Christmas has left me little money to provide these things for myself. When I was first diagnosed, I felt broken to think I might not see my son grow up, but thankfully I now know there has been no spread and my treatment is for curative intent so this Christmas will be extra special regardless of the chemotherapy journey I will be starting.

After purchasing the essential items I will most definitely need, I would be hoping to also source a good quality wig, if possible. I am determined to use the cold caps to retain as much hair as I can but my chemo nurse has informed me the drugs I will be receiving will more than likely result in complete hair loss, so after I have gathered my essential, if I did have any money left that has been kindly raised, I would love to be able to have the option to buy a wig should the hair loss impact me emotionally. However, if I am able to retain my hair (or feel good rocking the no hair look should it fall out) then I will donate this to MacMillan who have been wonderful to me during these difficult first few weeks.
