Help a Devoted Mom and Healthcare Hero Fight Breast Cancer

Dear Friends, Family and Kind Strangers,

My name is Arlette Mayi.
I’m a proud healthcare worker and a devoted single mother to two amazing children now 10 and 12 yrs old.
Many of you have been part of my journey, you stood by me when I was homeless, you cheered me on when I went back to school and you celebrated with me when I became a certified sonographer, working across three hospitals to provide care and comfort to others.

Today, I find myself facing the hardest chapter of my life: at just 38 years old, I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer.

In January 2025, I received the devastating news. As a mother, my first thought was my children, how would I care for them while navigating this diagnosis? Since then, life has been a whirlwind of surgeries, setbacks and uncertainty.

I underwent two surgeries in March and April, with a third now on the horizon due to complications. I had hoped to return to work within eight weeks, but recovery hasn’t gone as planned. I’m currently on short-term disability, but the income is extremely limited, just a fraction of what I earned while working multiple jobs. It barely covers basic needs, let alone the mounting medical bills, rent, childcare and other essentials. Each day is a struggle to stretch every dollar while trying to stay strong for my kids.

Why I’m Asking for Help

Despite working tirelessly and being fiercely independent, the financial toll of this illness is overwhelming. I’m facing steep medical bills, treatment costs and everyday expenses (rent, groceries, childcare, and transportation), all while trying to maintain stability for my children.

I never imagined I’d be in a position to ask for help, but I am. And I’m doing it for them, for my kids, who need their mom to get better and be present.

How Your Support Will Help

Your donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward:

Medical treatments, medications, and recovery care

Rent, utilities, and groceries

Childcare support and daily needs for my children

Transportation to and from medical appointments

Every Bit Makes a Difference

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing my story with your community. Your encouragement, prayers and compassion mean more than you know.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me during this fight. With your help, I can focus on healing, regain my strength, and continue being the mother and healthcare worker I’ve always strived to be.

With gratitude and hope,

Arlette
