Hi, I am Janie (Greenway) Carpenter from Fort Worth, Texas, and my beautiful niece, Kristina Hill (age 35), has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer and has just started her chemotherapy treatments. She recently posted her journey on her Instagram pages, which can be viewed at Kmhill08. Kristina (Tina) has been a very active runner and has entered many local marathons. She was signed up to do the Disney Marathon in a few weeks but had to cancel those plans since undergoing her first two chemo treatments, which now make her weak and tired.

Since her insurance plan has not covered most of the diagnostic tests (mammograms for women under 40), MRIs, etc., the bills are already stacking up before the breast cancer was even confirmed. Kristina is working but not able to work all the hours needed due to the after-effects of chemo. Most of her income goes to paying her living expenses (mortgage, utilities, car payment, etc.), but she is struggling to keep up with paying the medical bills. The chemo treatments are just the beginning of her journey. Once the cancer has been reduced, a double mastectomy and reconstruction will be needed. Her bills will continue to overwhelm her even with family and friends support and assistance.

She knew she needed help but did not want to ask for it, so I suggested doing this for her. She finally agreed. Kristina lives and works in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and my sister, Sue (Greenway) Hill, is currently staying with her to help with appointments, treatments, tests, and all the decisions that are involved with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any money received will go directly to Kristina Hill to pay her medical bills and help cover her time missed from work for her treatments.

UPDATE: Kristina is currently in the hospital for a serious staph infection. They had to remove her port that is used for her chemo treatments due to the infection. When she is finally discharged, she will require home health for 4 weeks to help with her IV antibiotics. She has already missed several weeks of work which is making it even more difficult to keep up with all her medical bills and her living expenses. Her deductible just started over and is $8,000. She had just met her 2024-2025 deductible of the same $8k, now has to met that again. This is where the donations are being used for.

UPDATE #2 - 12/12/25

Kristina has now gone through 4 chemo sessions and has one more. She is scheduled for a Pet scan to see if the cancer is reduced enough to proceed with radiation treatment. This is needed to destroy the remaining cancer in the lymph nodes. Her double mastectomy will be in January or February. Then more radiation. During this time she will be on unpaid leave from work and her bills will get even higher.
