Hello I am writing to you today to tell my story and ask the many Canadians for their support. I am 60 year old huge believer in being your own advocate when it comes to health care. I diagnosed myself late 2019 and after two years of being told I am fine "Just fatty tissue" I ended up in a private hospital paying out of my own pocket. The testing took one day. After all my testing and 10 hours later I drove home stage 3 Ductal Carcinoma. Cancer in milk ducts. My local hospital did not pick it up on my many scans. (Xray, Ultrasound and MRI) not once but twice. I was set up immediately with Princess Margaret Hospital for a Biopsy to confirm. I was scheduled for aggressive Chemo for 3 months then a Mastectomy of my right breast and 20 lymph nodes removed in my right Auxiliary I have been going through Chemo for 6 years still going (HER2 positive) lives and feeds on estrogen. I see therapist for drainage regularly as I had 15 nodes removed
I have just been diagnosed with Left side Ductal Carcinoma and going through it again.
I am writing to ask for help from the Canadian people with Financial /Medical. as I cannot work and being self employed do not get disability.
Anything will help, I have waited this long as did not want to go this route but the financial burden is becoming overwhelming. I realize this time in life there are many struggles and anything is appreciated.
I have helped others in the past doing fundraisers and I know it does not take a lot to help and support and it is greatly appreciated. This is also calling to self diagnosing. Do not leave it up to our health care System. I know my body and I knew something was wrong and I took action. Be your own Advocate
