Hi, my name is Monica and this is something I never do. Neither does my friend Lynette. She didn't tell me I couldn't do this, so I took that as an ok and here I am trying to figure out what to say. Let me tell you a bit about Lynette. She is one hard-core CNA/caregiver, an impressive worker, a trusted friend. She works so hard to provide for her family and is truly dedicated to those she loves and cares for. Back in August or so, she noticed a lump... isn't how things like this always start? It grew fast and furious. Appointments to get anything done or checked out were always about 2 weeks apart. Doctor appointment's, then 2 weeks to see a specialist... then 2 weeks to see the surgeon.... then 2 weeks to get an MRI, and finally chemo started. After four treatments, and months of not working at her job, they changed her chemo regimen to what is called the "Red Devil". They say it's more aggressive than what she had been getting and for the last two treatments, this is what they infused into her bloodstream. The chemo wasn't bad she said, it was the shots she gave to herself the next day that did her in. She could barely walk, had no energy, and when she did walk it felt like her femurs were going to break because the pain was so horrible. She pretty much had every nasty side effect associated with any of the treatments she received. Thankfully, she finished her last chemo on the 19th of December and no longer has to give herself shots. Here's where the tough part comes in. She has used up all of the funds provided for people like her who have to stop working for medical reasons. She is already preparing to go back to work as soon as she can and has asked her doctor for a physical therapy referral so she can get her body stronger. But before she can go back to work, she has to have a CT scan to see if the cancer has shrunk, a major surgery, and of course the recovery from that ordeal. Then possible radiation treatment, as of course the cancer is in her lymph nodes. What she is going through by itself is hard to imagine and her tough shell is getting thinner. She is now facing the pile of bills from the electric company, the water company, her cell phone (which is her only way of communicating as she does not have a house phone), garbage service, co-payments, medical bills, and all the other things that require money. She had a rough Christmas, trying to provide for her son who is a senior in high school and for her adopted twin nieces who are sophomores this year, on an income of next to nothing. She still has months of appointments, surgery, and most likely radiation before she can go back to work. This is where I ask for your help. Anything you could possibly give would be greatly appreciated. She is one of the most kindest humans and has such a giving heart and it hurts seeing her struggle and in pain. Please help my dear friend by relieving some of the financial burden she is facing at this time. We would truly be ever thankful.
