Our aim over the is to create a landmark documentary, one which many previously told me would quite simply not be possible. We will document the travels of Jack, David, Fleur and Leen, 22 year old Irish college students who will embark on the journey of a lifetime along the West Coast of America. All stages of the trip will be filmed, from the planning to the travels on the road and everything in between, maybe even the odd sky dive. The group consist of Jack, who’s incredible story can be seen on Youtube (Fearless Like A Child - TEDx ), Dave one of his best mates, Fleur who works with Jack and has become a great friend as well as Leen, a part time camera man and editor and full time mate. Together they make up ‘Breaking Boundaries’.
During their first year of college Jack and David made a promise they would travel across the US when they graduated from Trinity college. Since then Jack has had his life changed, but his promise to travel across the West Coast of the US is one he has no intention of breaking.
Our plan is to do the trip this summer in June - actually we're booked regardless! We aim to prove to ourselves, the communitty and the public in Ireland and abroad that impossible is nothing. Bringing Leen along in the capacity of cameraman is a perfect fit for our ensemble, our friendship and familiarity with each other personally and professionally would be a hugely important dynamic to ensure we are comfortable enough to express our true feelings and emotions on camera.
This documentary will capture the highs and lows of our trip, a journey that we intend to share with the world, nothing contrived or fake. From Jack’s story and how he got to where he is today, how this affected David and other close friends and family but also most importantly how in reality nothing has changed, we are just triumphing over adversity. On completion of this project our hopes and goals are simple, to inspire a hope and belief in all people that have been affected by adversity in their lives to challenge their percieved limitations.
