My name is Barthélémy Lantieri, I am 21 years old, and I am the producer of Break of Dawn, our final short film of the year at Vancouver Film School.
I am raising funds because this project means a lot to me, both personally and professionally. Over the past few years, I have built experience through journalism, video production, editing, and storytelling, and I am now developing my path in film production. I have worked on creative and editorial projects in different environments, and this film represents the culmination of everything I have learned so far. As a producer, I want to help create stories that are both emotionally powerful and professionally executed, and Break of Dawn is exactly that kind of project.
This is not just another student assignment. It is the last short film of the year, which makes it one of the most important projects of our program. The stakes are high because we want to make this film at the strongest possible level and give it a real life beyond school by submitting it to film festivals. Short films have changed careers before. They have helped filmmakers get noticed, enter festivals, build credibility, and open the door to future opportunities in the industry. We truly believe this project has that kind of potential, and we want to give it every chance to stand out.
Short Synopsis
Break of Dawn follows Dawn, a young woman trapped in a strict and disturbing religious household, as she witnesses the initiation of a teenage girl into the same violent system that once stole her own freedom. As memories of her past resurface, Dawn must decide whether to remain silent or finally escape the life that has controlled her for years.
This film is important to us because it explores powerful themes such as trauma, control, silence, and liberation. It is a dark, emotional, and visually striking story that we want to tell with care, ambition, and artistic precision. We believe in the strength of this story and in its ability to connect with audiences through both its atmosphere and its emotional truth.
The funds we raise will go directly toward the essential costs of making the film at the level it deserves. This includes production design, costumes, props, food for the cast and crew, transportation, location-related needs, equipment support, and post-production costs. Every contribution will help us improve the quality of the film and make it stronger for festival submissions.
By supporting Break of Dawn, you are not only helping us finish a short film, you are helping a team of young filmmakers create a project we deeply believe in and take an important step toward our future careers.
Thank you so much for your support.
