My name is Lux, and I’m a transgender woman trying to raise funds to finally move out of a deeply unsafe and controlling household.

For years, I’ve lived under the roof of parents who do not accept me for who I am. They’ve made it clear through their words and actions that my identity is something they refuse to support or even acknowledge. I’ve faced constant emotional manipulation, transphobic comments, and attempts to control nearly every part of my life — from how I dress to who I’m allowed to speak to.

What’s worse, they’ve started to use the threat of homelessness as a weapon. Anytime I express myself or assert any independence, I’m met with ultimatums: conform or get out. I’m scared that any day now, they’ll follow through and I’ll have nowhere to go.

I’m starting this fundraiser because I can’t keep living like this.

My mental health is deteriorating from the constant stress, fear, and invalidation. I need to leave before I’m forced out with nothing — and before things get any worse. I’m currently working hard to save on my own, but I’m not making enough fast enough to escape in time. That’s why I’m turning to the kindness of others.
