I’m raising funds for my tuition at Pacific University. I am pursuing my Doctorate in Pharmacy and have started at Pacific’s School of Pharmacy Program this past year, on August of 2018. Paying for graduate school is expensive and difficult in general. For me as a DACA student with a family, it is even more of a challenge. Most students use FAFSA to provide loans to pay for their education, unfortunately that is not an option for me. I have always been very driven and dedicated with my educational goals since becoming a young mother in high school. And I have since then also been very involved in my community. I have been involved in leadership and community engagement through Head Start Community Action, Portland Community College, Hillsboro Schools, Bienestar, and Adelante Mujeres. I am the type of person that remembers where I come from and recognizes that there are others who are still going through what I have been through and that is one of the biggest reasons why I continue to be as involved as I can. I want to help ease others' journey in life. I am currently a board member at Bienestar; I am a part of the Dreamers of Oregon project with Bienestar because I want to bring awareness about students like myself making their journey in life and how much potential we have to offer our communities.
I am confident I will be an incredibly involved Pharmacist, just as I have been in every other aspect of my life throughout my life. As a Pharmacist, I will be involved in leadership, in providing opportunities to students like myself and developing ways for patients to become active members in their health and well-being.
My tuition per year is around $47,000 not including books. I was able to cover my expenses for my first semester, which I successfully completed.
Now I am looking at my statement due for this Spring 2019 semester and I do not have the funds available to pay for it. I am looking for as many resources as possible to get me through this semester. I am applying for scholarships for my upcoming years, which I will list below so you all can share with other students, it has really taken an extensive amount of time to compile some of these and I really hope it helps.
I know I am asking for a lot of funds and if I really didn't need them I would not ask for them. There is one thing that is clear in my mind, when I have the opportunity to give back in the same way and other ways, I will do so. I picture myself, other DACA colleagues, and community members building a scholarship foundation to support others coming after us with Masters and Doctorate degrees.
I really want to express that every little bit helps and counts, If everyone helps with $5 or $10, or whatever is possible for your budget, you can help me make this happen and I will forever be in gratitude with you. I deeply appreciate everyone for taking the time to read this, share this, and donate.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, would like to know more, or even if you need a mentor.
