Free Bread Fund 20th Anniversary 5k - 19 June 2021

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS!

Twenty years ago my parents, Margaret and Eugene Schellenberg, started the Ifakara Bakery Project in Tanzania. Today, the nuns of St Francis convent continue to run the bakery as an independent local business. However, after the bakery was up and running, my parents wanted to make sure that local groups who would not be able to afford the bread would also be able to receive it. Today the bakery is still going strong and, thanks to all the support over the years, the free bread fund continues to supply free bread to several local kindergartens, the leprosy centre, the hospital (which does not provide meals for patients) and a centre for children with learning disabilities.

It is time to celebrate! Celebrate the difference that has been made in the lives of those receiving the free bread, celebrate all that my parents have accomplished, celebrate all those who have supported the project and donated over the years and celebrate the opportunity that we all have to continue to make a difference.
