On November 9, 2025, a road trip from Maryland to Jacksonville, FL, took a traumatic turn when the car Jameka, Charlene, Sherneen, and Xavi were in was t-boned by a jeep. The accident was considered near fatal, and significantly impacted each of us. We were all taken to Memorial Health hospital in Savannah, GA.
Xavi sustained minor physical injuries and witnessing the accident impacted his sense of safety and security. Jameka lost consciousness upon impact and sustained trauma injuries to her head, collapsed lungs, and fractured bones in her back, neck, and ribs. Sherneen sustained spinal, pelvis, and shoulder blade fractures. Her recovery period is an estimated 3 months due to her pelvis fracture. The jaws of life were used to remove Charlene from the car, and she was helicoptered from the scene to the hospital. Charlene was unresponsive upon impact and sustained the most serious injuries of sternum, ribs, back and pelvis fractures (requiring an external fixture with rods and screws to stabilize), liver laceration, and punctured lungs. Charlene has an estimated 3 month road to recovery, specifically intensive physical therapy at a rehabilitation facility to walk unassisted. Once Charlene completes her rehabilitation she needs two more surgeries: her diaphragm repaired and pelvis external fixture removed.
We appreciate any donations that can assist us with uncovered medical expenses, necessary ADA retrofit of Charlene's home to accommodate her rehabilitation needs, and returning each of our lives back to a sense of normality, peace and comfort.
Sincerely,
Jameka, Charlene, Sherneen, Xavi
