Help Irene kick cancers ass

Hello everyone, our names are Amanda Costello, Cassidy Sargent, and Katie Anzalone. This is a fundraiser for Irene McDonough, who was recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer in her brain, kidney, and lung.

If you know Irene, you know she is the most selfless, strong, and caring person you have ever met. She does nothing but try to help others, especially her three kids, Matt, Pete, and Caite. Irene isn't only the best mother to her kids, but a second mother to all of us. We want to do the same for Irene as she has done for us and help her through this journey as best as we can.

On Sunday, our best friend's mom Irene McDonough went into the emergency room to get a concussion screening for a fall she had on Thursday. The doctors ended up finding a cancerous tumor in her brain, along with one on her kidney and lung. She has just undergone brain surgery on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. After the surgery, the results that came back were not as hopeful as everyone was expecting. The MRI showed that they were successful in getting some of the brain tumor, but not all of it. There is a long road ahead with chemotherapies and radiation to help her have a full recovery. With the long road ahead, we know that Irene will fight this with everything she’s got. With that being said, Irene truly is not the type of person to ask for handouts, but this is the least we can do to relieve stress for her and her family during this difficult time. As they figure out the plans for her treatment, we want to relieve the stress of the expensive medical bills they will be facing.

This GoFundMe was started in hopes that this beautiful community surrounding Irene will continue to show up for her. All donations will be used for the mountains of medical bills that lie ahead. We also plan to regularly share any updates on her treatment and health progress here.
