I love to give updates about Anja and our rescue in Brazil and share just part of the adventure we had the last few days to bring Anja and the other two cats, Xiquinha and Brigitte, from Brazil to Italy.
They are now safe in Italy with my family and not with strangers anymore.
Below are pictures of some of our expenses and recent pictures of them just landing in Rome. It was hard, and so much could go wrong, but with much faith in God, love, and determination, everything went wonderful!! :)))))
It was a long, extremely complicated list of requests for strict rules in a very disorganized system; the feeling was that they did it all so difficult that it seemed they were hoping for people to drop it, but not us! :)
The CVI was a torture of days and days, and they won’t allow you to start more than 9 days before your trip, so we basically had to book and prepare everything with the uncertainty that they would be approved or not until 3 days before the trip.
Anja also needed a service dog school certification to allow her to travel with us in the cabin. I also requested a wheelchair for my mother as she has knee pain from walking long distances, and this was what we used to bring Anja until the airplane in my mother's lap until she was inside of the airplane, through the security doors, and all the way to the chair inside the airplane.
All documents were asked, including the doctor's note requiring a service dog certification and a service dog certification, as emotional support dogs aren’t allowed in the cabin anymore in Europe. Anja could have been questioned about being a service dog who couldn't walk, but no one asked; people were kind and helpful from the beginning to the end.
Thank God all went perfect! mission accomplished! :)
I tried to upload the videos of them inside the airplane, but it is not allowing me to; there are a few pictures of Anja who has just landed in Rome Fiumicino airport.
National Airlines did not accept more than two pets, even one being a service dog, so we drove to the airport in Guarulhos São Paulo for 20 hours. These were long trips, especially for the animals in the car for 20 hours, then in the airplane for another 13 hours, and the hours in between.
It was probably the most difficult trip we've ever taken with animals, especially because of Anja's special needs—she needed to use diapers and could not walk.
It was a wild adventure, but God took care of everything. The people in the airplane were wonderful; the flight attendants were angels, and the kindness of those people really touched us; they were wonderful people who made us feel safe. The animals were loved and respected. And today, they are finally safe with my mother in Italy.
My mom still has to prepare a safe space outside in the garden for the cats where they can come in and out later; for now, they have to be locked inside home to not get lost in a new environment, and Anja already has some space where she can walk with and without her wheelchair.
I will post more pictures as soon as they are all ready in their new home.
Thank you so much from our hearts, from us, and all our rescued babies.

**Welcome to my updated campaign, which has been raising funds on GoFundMe to help rescued animals in Brazil get medical care and food since 2019.**
Thank you for reading about our cause,
My mother, Vitoria, has run a small, private animal rescue in our hometown in Brazil for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, as the years have passed, she’s now 73 years old and started to lose her sight to macular degeneration and can’t take care of all the cats and dogs on her own anymore.
She has rescued 25 cats and 3 dogs from poverty and abuse, many of them dealing with malnutrition an illness. Brazil has been overrun with stray animals for years and those who couldn’t find a new home have found one on her safe countryside property. With her own healthcare costs to deal with now, we are humbly asking for help caring for the animals she’s devoted her life to. Any donations, small or large, would be forever appreciated at goes directly to paying for pet food, medical care and my mother’s new assistant – who comes daily to take care of the animals, drive them to the vet when they need.

Some of Vitoria’s rescues are also dealing with serious health issues that sadly led to them be abandoned or unready for adoption. Your support will also go towards taking care of veterinary bills for their ongoing care.
Picolata has sadly left us, it's heartbreaking but she had no chance to come out of this horrible disease, it came back in all her body and shes couldn't resist.

**Follow the last exames from our angel Picolatta**

Chiquinho was just 2 years-old and was dealing with feline leukemia and couldn't resist.
Thank you to your help we could give him all treatments possible to help him to fight against this terrible diagnose, he could live a little longer with us and had all the medications to help him with terrible symptoms and pain, but sadly our little angel couldn't resist and overcome this terrible diagnosis.

We hope you will take a look at the rest of these wonderful animals in the slideshow and find it in your heart to share this cause with your friends.
Brazil is a very difficult place for cats and dogs and all animals, thousands die every day very young with cruelty, hungry in the streets, and sick and abandoned, when they appear to your door hungry and sick and keep coming back, is really heartbreaking to say not to then, that’s why my mother has done this for nearly a decade from her own pocket, and now this is the most important responsibility and challenge my mother and I have in life. And she also is fragile, with health problems and can’t drive or see well with one eye. So is becoming even harder that always was.
Thank you for reading this and
Thank you for your compassion
