Bray's Youth Theatre travel to Latvia for Erasmus Exchange!
Mr. Sands Youth Theatre has been active since 2017, providing a space for young people from all walks of life to Make Theatre, Make Friends, and Make Memories. We are a volunteer-lead organisation with support from the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board, the Arts Council, and Wicklow County Council among others.
As part of this, we've had a programme of international events, including travel to other countries!
Our next big event is taking place from the 18th to the 26th of August 2025 - a transnational youth drama project called LET IT OUT, in collaboration with partners in Latvia, Romania and Portugal.
This project aims to create a safe and supportive space where young people can freely express their emotions, develop emotional awareness, and break stereotypes related to emotional expression and gender roles. Through creative forms like music, dance, visual arts, theatre, and filmmaking, we want to support their personal growth and mental well-being. The participants will have masterclasses with professional artists and film-makers, and will work towards a big final presentation at the
In order to make this the best experience possible, there's a lot of costs that need to be covered:
Flight Costs - €4000 (which is thankfully being covered by Erasmus, although we have to settle this up-front)
Other travel costs - €550 (transport to and from the airport, petty cash for food and other small expenses, €50 per person x 11)
Preparatory Costs - €200 (materials for a cultural presentation as part of the event, rehearsal time and planning costs)
Fees for adult Leaders for the week - €2700 (€150 per day for 9 days x 2 Leaders)
Anything you give will go directly towards these costs and ensuring these talented young people get to experience this cultural exchange to the fullest, and give them memories they will cherish for years to come!
