Brayden's Miraculous Recovery
On Saturday August 7th, ordinary life was turned around quite quickly for Brayden Curtis. Around 9 pm that night, along highway 94, he found himself in a severe car accident versus a semi due to less then ideal weather conditions. This resulted in him being airlifted to HCMC to receive emergent treatment and undergo a major orthopedic surgery to repair his fractured and crushed femur and tibia. Along with a concussion, some scrapes, and swelling, to call this accident a miracle does not do it justice. God certainly had his hand on Brayden that night and the days following. He is currently still in the hospital but has been stabilized. He is battling pneumonia since his hospitalization which has complicated things to be more than just a broken leg. Brayden is working with PT and OT everyday but his recovery is just starting. He will need intensive therapy upon discharge and is facing a 6-12 month recovery, which in this case we are all very grateful that this is the outcome we are working with.
You may be wondering why "Brayden Curtis" is such a familiar name. The first thing you should know is Brayden is an aspiring and very talented musician. You might recognize him from many of the high school plays and musicals that he starred in. He is supposed to be moving in for his first year of college this year (which will now look a little different as you can imagine) where he intends to further his musical career. The Curtis family, Jon, Jeanne, Collin, and Brayden, live within the Baldwin-Woodville school district and have been greatly involved in serving the community through teaching, church, music, sporting events, and more.
