Brayden's story...
Everyone who knows Brayden knows he is the kindest and smartest boy. One weekend we noticed that Brayden wasn't acting like himself. He had lost his appetite, was losing his balance and was sleepier than usual. We decided to take him to the UNM Pediatric Urgent Care to get him checked. After a long 12 hours of patiently waiting for his blood results to come back, his white blood cells were critically high, and his platelet count was critically low. The doctor told us that this was a sign of cancer. Our hearts instantly broke. No parent ever wants to hear those words. They had sent his blood to the lab, and the next morning we found out that Brayden was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Brayden went through his first bone marrow biopsy the next day and got his central line placed. He will be having to get infusions every Thursday for this first month of treatment and then once every month for the next 2 and half years. This week has been challenging for all of us. On top of everything we have a newborn baby that is only 1 month old. This month we will have to be staying here in Albuquerque which is 2 hours away from our home. Or we will have to be traveling back and forth every week. If you are unable to donate prayers are always greatly appreciated. Everything we receive will be going toward expenses such as medical treatments, transportation, food, and hotels. Thank you all so much.
