Brave the Shave for Bart’s Cat Sanctuary

Hello everyone, my name is Andrea, and on Monday 24th March 2025 I will be Braving the Shave at the Link Centre, Oldham in order to raise money for Bart's Legacy Cat Sanctuary!

I have chosen to support Bart's Legacy as I have known the founder, Sue, for a long time and admire how her and her volunteers conduct themselves and the rescue. No expense is spared to help a cat if they have a reasonable chance at a happy life, and things like FIV do not stop them from finding the cat a good home once they have been nursed back to health. The rescue is friendly and understanding and does not judge people who seek help, choosing instead to educate and offer support where possible. Bart's goes out of their way to do the best they can for the cats, often taking in the ones that have been overlooked for some time.

As a result of taking in cats that may have been overlooked for some time as they appeared healthy on the outside, Bart's often incurs huge vet bills to get these cats back to health - neutering, dentals, FIV/FELV testing, flea and worming - this all builds up very quickly! Bart's relies entirely on volunteer donations - they do not receive any grants or community funding. In the last year alone, they have incurred over £20,000 in vet bills, which is a huge amount for a small rescue. Despite this, Bart's has continued to take in cats and are even currently engaging with specialist services to diagnose and treat one cat in their care at present - these are even more expensive, but Bart's want to give him the best chance at a happy, healthy life.

I have therefore chosen to Brave the Shave to help raise money for them so they can continue to do their excellent work getting more cats off the streets, back to health and into safe, warm forever homes.
