Baby Ryu was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA TYPE 1). It is a rare and severe genetic disease that causes muscle weakness and wasting.
Ryu was already granted an emergency passport and VISA by the US Embassy in the Philippines. His father is an American Citizen and Passport Holder from Los Angeles that's why Ryu was granted an emergency passport and VISA.

The treatment the he need is called ZOLGENSMA is worth $2.1 million dollars and his medical flight from Philippines to LA Children's Hospital is worth $300,000.
