Hi, my name is Petra Castellano, and I’m a very close family friend of the Phelps family.

Their sweet son, Benedict (age 2), was recently diagnosed with cancer. His journey ahead is a long one, with an estimated three-year treatment timeline that includes multiple types of chemotherapy and surgeries. Benedict is currently receiving care at Penn State Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital.

While medical costs are being supported, the reality outside the hospital walls is heavy. Both parents, Alex and Jillian, have stepped away from work to be by Benedict’s side during treatments. On top of that, they are expecting their second child in the middle of next year, which brings both joy—and added financial strain.

Hospital stays, travel, meals, missed wages, and everyday bills don’t pause during cancer treatment. They add up quickly.

This fundraiser is to help relieve some of that burden so Alex and Jillian can focus on what matters most: caring for Benedict and growing their family during an unimaginably difficult season.
