Brave Finnegan, living his best life!

Hi, my name is Peggy Huot and my beautiful 8 year old son Finnegan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on April 13th 2023.
It all started very quickly with typical symptoms of excessive thirst and waking multiple times a night to use the bathroom. 3 days later he was in full DKA, which stands for diabetic acidosis. It's a very serious and dangerous situation to be in so he was immediately admitted to Masonic Children's hospital in Minneapolis.
After 4 days of pokes, shots, lots of blood work and insulin he was discharged home. We were thrilled until he quickly became sick again and needed another emergency room visit. He had picked up a virus likely from his hospital stay. He was weak and very very sick. They were able to get him hydrated enough to get back home after 9 hours in the emergency room.
I am scared, tired and extremely overwhelmed with all that surrounds this new diagnosis for Finnegan. However, he has been brave, resilient and curious about what his new normal will be like. His biggest fear prior to diagnosis was needles. His biggest fear now is that people will think he's "weird".
I have a strong support system, an amazing care team at M Health Fairview and faith that we will not only survive but thrive despite all of the unknowns.
I will undoubtedly have lots of medical bills and am humbly asking my village of supporters for help. I am hopeful Finnegan will be equipped with the latest and greatest medical devices and with that comes lots of medical costs for the rest of his life.
Thank you in advance, much love and appreciation to all. We LOVE you ❤️
