Brave & Beautiful Loretta

Hello, My name is Lisa Thomasson, and I'm lucky enough to call Loretta a friend. She's not someone I see or talk to daily, but we have always found a way to stay connected over the years. Unfortunately, our current connection is over the fight for life. My husband was recently diagnosed with brain cancer & Loretta was one of the first people to reach out and say, "how can I help?" so now it's my turn to help Loretta.
I'll share a little about Loretta's journey with those new to her story.
Loretta was initially diagnosed in 2016 with stage 3 lobular cancer in her right breast. It was hormone positive and HER2 negative. This was found through a mammogram. She had eight rounds of chemo, which equates to 24 weeks, followed by a bilateral mastectomy, DIEP flap reconstructive surgery and 28 rounds of radiation. She came out on top, ready to keep living life to the fullest, but cancer doesn't always give you that option. She's recently been diagnosed with triple negative stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, which is extremely rare to change. It's also extremely rare to show up in the intestines, but the recent diagnosis was discovered when she ended up in the ER with extreme abdominal pain. A mass was resected and sent to pathology, confirming the diagnosis.
She was given 1-2 years to live, which was devastating. She was scheduled for a PET scan, which came back NED, no evidence of disease anywhere else in her body. A blessing amid a fight.
Loretta started that fight today, 8/24/2022, with the first round of chemo over the next 4.5 months. She will be immune comprised the entire time. Her body unable to protect itself from the average cold, flu, virus or llness.
Loretta is a single Mom to Gabby, a Junior at Sunset HS and Christopher, and a 7th grader at Tumwater MS. She will be unable to work for at least the next five months. Somehow she will have to find the means to support her family physically and financially. We can help Loretta in so many ways. We can show up at Gabby's basketball games, and track meets when her Mom can't. We can help get Christopher to and from his activities with friends, playing soccer and basketball.
More than anything, we can help support Loretta financially. The stress of paying existing bills while accruing new medical bills is unimaginable. Donate to this fund if you are blessed enough to be able to. Please share this page with everyone that you know & send all of your positive energy straight to Loretta. She needs our love, strength and support.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or ideas for future funding.
We appreciate you all.
