Sweet little Brantley May Ward has had a hard little life so far! On March 4, 2017 he will be celebrating his 5th birthday at the Birmingham Children's Hospital in Birmingham , AL. He was born to Kari Ward at 26 weeks gestation at 1lb 11oz (a micropreemie). He spent the first 70 days of his life in the NICU at Midtown Medical. On December 11, 2016, at the age 4, Brantley was diagnosed with Stage 3 High Risk Neuroblastoma. So far he has undergone 4 rounds of chemo and one surgery for the diagnosis and staging of his cancer! He is getting ready to undergo more scans to determine whether they can safely remove the rest of the tumor on March 17, 2017. After they resect the tumor he will undergo 1 round of intense chemo, 2 rounds of high dose chemo followed by a stem cell transplant, 6 weeks of radiation therapy, and 3-6 months of immunotherapy. Before this is all over he will have to undergo a few more surgeries.
If you know Kari, she is a strong single mother of 2 Brantley (almost 5) and Emory (3) and is very self-reliant and does not like to ask for help. She had just started a new job before Brantley's cancer diagnosis and has since had to quit care for Brantley full time. Currently Kari lives in Phenix City almost 3 hrs from where Brantley receives his treatment. All this has created a severe financial hardship for her and her family. Would you please prayerfully consider helping Kari during this time as she cares for Brantley during his cancer treatment. If you personally cannot afford to help Kari please make a commitment to be a prayer partner for her son Brantley! Thanks in advance for your prayerful consideration!
