Brantley needs your help.

Update on Brantley… As I have shared he tested positive for Covid last week on Tuesday after a daycare teacher tested positive on Friday. Started out with a mild fever and no major symptoms other than being tired and sleeping more often. Brantley was a normal eight-year-old and then something changed on Sunday morning when he woke up. Woke up with his eye swollen shut and a huge bruise and bump on his forehead. He could not tell us what happened after asking him numerous times what happened so we just chalked it up to him just bumping his head while playing video games or possibly just falling and hitting it the right way and just forgetting. He hasn’t eaten or drink drinking anything all weekend and had constantly slept so on Monday I decided knowing that he was dehydrated to take him to urgent care… Mom‘s first mistake… They seem to show some signs of caring later to find out that if they just done what they were supposed to do then we would’ve known something Monday. Give him fluids for dehydration did no bloodwork and told us to go home and if he didn’t eat or drink to take him to the Children’s Hospital. I’m not a medical doctor and I’m a mama and I knew something still wasn’t a right on Tuesday. He still couldn’t hold water down nor eat a thing so on Tuesday night I made a decision to pack up and go to the Children’s Hospital to get my kid checked out. Still having fevers that would spike out of nowhere and then come right back down and would not register on a thermometer. Got here and spent 12 hours in the ER and they did numerous tests two CT scans on his head and a spinal tap and numerous other things only to finally be told that they were pretty sure that he had meningitis. After him talking crazy and saying random things out of nowhere and the fever still hanging around they admitted us to the hospital. First thing on Wednesday morning we were introduced to the ear nose and throat doctor where they had decided that he needed emergency surgery to remove the infection that having between his eyes and his brain which could cause the random out of no where bruising and swelling of the eye and forehead . That was the meningitis all along and he really didn’t bump his head so yeah my kid was telling the truth LOL. After surgery we sat and waited to be put in a room where they were only come to tell me that he could have no visitors for the duration of the time he was here (covid and meningitis) and then only one parent could be here and we could switch out every 24 hours. As a parent that is the toughest thing you ever want to hear is that you can’t have your significant other here by your side to help with this. As a family we have done very well getting through this it has not been easy and this mama is about to break. After being seen by the doctor yesterday afternoon that is when they decided to tell me that that my stay here will be at least 10 days where they would monitor and give him strong antibiotics to get rid of the meningitis. This morning he woke up still not completely out of the woods but they said he is responding to everything they are doing in the treatment is working and he is getting much much better. He is still not Brantley he is still weird and that’s the only way I know to put it. He has asked to eat today which that is a blessing in itself. he is currently sitting up and playing his phone which he has not done in days so we are making progress. Please say a sweet prayer for our family and if anybody wants to send food or a meal or any of that my kid loves to eat I will be glad to tell you what room number he is in if you message me LOL he has already requested Olive Garden for dinner tonight and many numerous other things that he will eat for the next 10 days to pass the time away and give him something to look forward to. Thank you for the ones who have checked in on us and offered to do things for us. we are not people to ask for help but it’s always nice to know know that we do need help we have people there to help us. I will do updates on here as things change.
