My grandson, Branson Talley (2 yo), has been transported from STPH in Covington, LA to Ochsner Main Campus in New Orleans, LA. He has been diagnosed with a ruptured appendix. Currently being treated with IV antibiotics, surgery is too risky due to his internal organs being inflamed from infection. Both his parents, Emmaleigh Anderson and Logan Talley, are with him. However, they have 2 more children at home that family members are helping take care of. The surgeon estimates his hospital stay to be at least 2 weeks, then if the infection is clear, removal of his appendix in 6-8 weeks. I’m asking on behalf of Logan and Emmaleigh to help with travel expenses, food, gas, causeway tolls, and home expenses while they are both not working to care for their children. This journey can be exhausting on parents and siblings. Emmaleigh is self-employed, therefore no vacation or sick pay, and Logan has limited PTO time. I know that any help at this point will be greatly appreciated from them both. God bless.
6/9 update:
Slow day, got a PICC line placed and he came back loopy but in such a good mood! He laughed, played, and got to visit with Riley! Next few days will be a slow but steady healing process. Fingers crossed no hiccups. Right now we have been struggling with the fevers but that’s expected.
I want to say thank you for all the texts, calls, thoughts, and prayers. ❤️ we can have visitors 8am-8pm but I ask to please reach out! The room is tiny & only allows for one family at a time!! And he’s not really feeling it just yet.
Please continue praying for Branson, mom, dad, & for Riley + Parker at home! We are hopeful he will perk up by this weekend.
6/11 update:
Branson has had a rough night/day again but we expected that. Fever is gone for now. It seems like the two biggest causes of pain right now is the catheter and the gas pain. They did come do labs last night and his glucose read 440!!! Scary but we think it was just a mistake based on symptoms and rechecked it and it was 116 which was much much better!
He did get to sit in our laps for a bit and cracked a few smiles! He also took a wagon ride which he did not enjoy!
Doctor said he wants him moving a little soon so hopefully once the catheter comes out he will be more comfortable moving and feel a little better tomorrow. He also said everything is progressing on track so we are just taking this day by day!
6/12 update:
First off, thank you to EVERY person who has offered help, donated to us, brought us clothes/meals, etc! We are blessed.
- Branson started this morning off miserable. They did remove his Foley catheter which provided a huge amount of relief by the end of the day! Happy, Pop Pop, Riley, and Parker came to visit but he wasn’t feeling his best.
- around 3/4pm he perked up and was laughing, sitting up with the bed, and even took 2 steps!!!! He wont entertain any “liquid diet” but begged for cheetos and chicken nuggets dr said he can have a chip or two & maybe nuggets tomorrow! Lol
- so far, he’s still having a LOT of pain urinating and was screaming and freaking out so much he was slapping himself so we have been battling that. But he is still going so we are very happy with that because that means catheter can stay out. Stomach pain comes and goes still!
- labs look good, fever mostly gone, goal for tomorrow is a dance party and maybe a ride around the hallway! And don’t forget them nuggets!
