Brandy's Recovery: Overcoming Strokes & Cancer

Dear Friends & Family,

I am setting this GoFundMe fundraiser up for my best friend & her wife, Brandy & Katie Coffelt.

I’ve known Brandy since 2020. She is truly the most caring, loving, and hardworking woman I know. She would help anyone in need, and right now I’m asking anyone who is able to, to help her in these difficult times.

In June, Brandy was in a car accident that totaled her Jeep. A couple of weeks later, she was having issues with pain in her left arm and leg. After a couple of days, she decided to get it checked out. There, she was first diagnosed with blood clots. They then began her on blood thinners to help as a preventative. A couple of weeks went by, and Brandy was again experiencing pain, this time on her right side of her body and again was diagnosed with another blood clot. Along with other symptoms, she knew something was wrong and wanted to get some tests done to ease her mind. Unfortunately, Brandy was diagnosed with cervical cancer in October 2024. After dealing with this diagnosis, Brandy was set up to get her port placed on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024. Late that night into early morning on Thursday, Katie realized something was wrong and got Brandy to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a large vessel occlusion, right middle cerebral artery—“a blood clot in the main artery of the brain.” She was rushed to U of M where she had emergency surgery to get the clot removed. Unfortunately, Brandy suffered from multiple strokes as a result of the blood clots. She has fought to learn to walk, talk, and write again.

At this time, Brandy is undergoing the side effects of the stroke still while just finishing her 2nd round of chemo. Brandy is currently staying home to rest and gain her strength back from everything she has dealt with in 2024, while still having 4 chemo treatments to endure. This fundraiser is to help ease the stress of financial hardships or anything they may need during this time.
