Brandy's Battle for Lung Cancer Awareness

Part of what makes living in Klein Creek special is the commitment collectively as a neighborhood to bettering the lives of those we surround ourselves with daily. So when this neighborhood has the opportunity to step up for one of our own, we rise to the challenge time and time again. The Klein Creek Rock the Block Committee is committed to leveraging this strength as we ask for your support of our friend and Pinehurst neighbor, Brandy Asnaz, wife to Darryl and mother to Isabella (11) and Robert (7).

Brandy was diagnosed with stage 4 Non Small-Cell Adenocarcinoma in February of 2020 at just 39 years old. This news was especially devastating as she has never smoked and has always led a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for the type of cancer Brandy has. She has endured countless rounds of targeted therapy and chemotherapy to make more time with her precious family.

When we approached Brandy about starting a Gofundme, she was adamant that she wanted all funds to go towards research and therapies desperately needed for Brandy and others in the lung cancer community. She wants everyone to know that if you have lungs, you can get lung cancer. She wants to end the stigma and raise awareness & funds. She chose the non-profit Lungevity Foundation to donate proceeds to.

We are firmly committed to making an immediate impact on increasing quality of life and survivorship of people with lung cancer by accelerating research into early detection and more effective treatments, as well as providing community, support and education for all of those affected by the disease.
