Brandon’s Neck Surgery
Spende geschützt
Hi everyone,
This is difficult for me to write but important to share. I’ve spent the last 7 years working as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care Units all across the United States. I’ve dedicated my entire working life to helping others in their greatest times of need during and after extreme medical trauma and crisis. I’ve witnessed how people’s lives can change in an instant.
And now, I’m on the other side, having just spent a week in the ICU after suffering an unexpected accident and having titanium placed in my neck and my vertebrae fused together.
It’s hard for me to ask for help because I’ve always been such an independent person. However, after experiencing a life flash before my eyes moment, floating face down in water unable to move my arms, an ambulance ride, a week in ICU, spinal surgery and many hours sitting still and alone with only my thoughts in my head, I accept that even the strongest people can be humbled. I’ve thought a lot about my short-term and long-term recovery and how it will impact me mentally and financially.
In the short-term, I’ll be living in a C-collar every day and unable to work for the next few months. In the long-term, I’ll be experiencing intermittent pain and numbness in my arms, hands, fingers and shoulders for 18 months. Some days will be easy and others will be hard. But I know, in the end, it will make me stronger and grateful for my life and friends like you.
As you can imagine the cost of this medical care and recovery is significant. I’m trying to tackle one day at a time while I look forward to the day I can get back to work, fully supporting myself and the patients that need me. My goal here is to raise funds to cover the cost of my co-payments and co-insurances so that I can focus on my recovery.
Life is precious and I’m grateful for people like you, near and far. Cherish every moment and every day.
