On Friday 3rd October 2025, my brother Brandon was involved in a serious industrial accident whilst working on the roads in Doncaster which resulted in the loss of his right leg as well as other significant life changing injuries. Brandon was supported by members of all three emergency services including doctors from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who administered a blood transfusion on scene before being transported to Sheffield Northern General Hospital. Brandon had multiple surgeries and spent 5 days on a ventilator to support his recovery. On Tuesday 7th October, Brandon emerged from his sedation surrounded by his family and has continued to defy the odds stacked against him!
Anyone who knows Brandon will tell you he is one of the most determined, strong minded and positive people they know! The kind of person who will always help others and the last to complain! Now, as he faces a long journey of recovery and rehabilitation, we want to come together to support him as he adapts to his new way of life.
On Saturday 15th of November, Brandon’s family and friends will be taking on a 12-mile hike in the Lake District which will include summiting the iconic Helvellyn via the challenging Striding Edge. The mountain, which sits above the idyllic Ullswater Lake is 3,117 feet above sea level making the challenge itself a test of endurance and determination, qualities that reflect Brandon’s own strength and resilience as he faces his recovery journey. Every step taken on the trail will be in support of Brandon, symbolising the uphill battles he’s already overcome and the ones still ahead. The choice of walk was inspired by his girlfriend Emily as they have enjoyed a holiday to the Lake District each year for the last 3 years, a fitting tribute then to their dedication to each other.
All funds raised through this event will go towards any physical and mental rehabilitation support he requires as well as the best physiotherapy services and prosthetic products. In the longer term, the fund will help Brandon and his family with any housing modifications that may be required as well as car/transport adaptations to allow him to continue to live an independent life with his friends and Emily.
In addition, 10% of all funds raised will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity who sent not one but two helicopters to the scene when Brandon needed them the most. Brandon also received multiple blood transfusions on scene so as part of this event we will be raising awareness of the importance of giving blood. By sacrificing just one hour of your time to give blood you can save up to three lives!
Finally, if you’d like to join us in supporting Brandon — whether you’ve known him for years or are simply inspired by his story — please reach out to get involved and join us for the challenge!
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference to Brandon’s recovery and future independence, as well as helping to support an amazing charity to continue to provide vital services across our home county of Yorkshire.
Thank you so much for your support.
