Hi, my name is Melissa Musick. On Saturday, October 8, 2022, my youngest son, Brandon Musick, was hit head-on in a motorcycle accident. While he was on a two-lane road, an elderly woman traveling the opposite direction decided to make a last-minute turn into a subdivision, just as he was approaching. She didn't use the designated turn lane and collided directly with Brandon. He was thrown off the bike, over her SUV and onto the pavement, resulting in several injuries to the left side of his body. He has broken bones in his leg, foot, arm and hand--some open breaks and others closed. Several surgeries, followed by intensive rehabilitation, will be needed to repair the damage.

Brandon's wife, Emily, was following him in their car with their two-year-old, Derek, when this accident occurred. She witnessed it all firsthand. Emily is due any day with their second child and will not be able to have her husband by her side as she delivers their baby girl.

This accident has turned their world upside down to say the least. And there are several financial impacts adding to an already stressful and traumatic situation. Brandon will be out of work for several months as his body heals, and both Brandon and Emily have limited amounts of paid leave. They will also need to find childcare for Derek as Emily recovers from childbirth and takes care of a newborn and Brandon.

While we can't take away the physical or emotional impact of this situation or ease a lot of the uncertainty of what's to come in these next few months, we would like to at least alleviate as much of the financial burden as possible.
