Our dad has always been there to take care of us, his family, and friends. It is now our turn to help take care of him. He was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. “Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks part of its peripheral nervous system—the network of nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord. GBS can range from a very mild case with brief weakness to nearly devastating paralysis, leaving the person unable to breathe independently.”(NIH 2020) It started in his feet and legs, and has now moved up towards his chest, preventing him from breathing on his own. He is currently in the ICU on a ventilator and is receiving plasmapheresis for his treatment. Unfortunately he has run into some more complications, including pneumonia and sepsis. After his car accident in 2012 we never would have imagined he would be starting back at square one. Our mom has also been impacted with all this, as she has been his primary caregiver for the last 8 years. He has a very long road to recovery once he is out of the woods. But as many of you know he’s a strong fighter and an all around badass. We would love the prayers and support from our family and friends at this time. We also thank you for your help in relieving some of our financial hardship during this very difficult time and road ahead. Words can not describe our gratitude and love for you all!
