Today marks 5 months to the day the phone rang and forever turned our lives upside down. Its crazy how fast cancer comes in and truly becomes the biggest FOCUS, the biggest consumer of your thoughts, and time, you quite literally go into SURVIVAL mode. Thats exactly what happened to my sister 5 months ago and honestly i know it still feels like a nightmare we just cant wake up from. However i've never seen someone stay so positive and optimistic like Brandi as she continues to TRULY fight for her life. In February Brandi had a very successful surgery to remove her tumor in her butt cheek THANK YOU JESUS. However she does have continuous pain still associated with her surgery due to: normal healing and serious complications due to negative side affects of the radiation. Also they had to remove her tail bone so she's still experiencing 10/10 pain most days( She'll never tell you that its that bad because she doesn't want to be negative) but most days are VERY HARD for her. Most people don't understand ( Me included) what this means now that the Tumor is gone, does this mean she's cancer free? NO Brandi's Cancer is a very, very, VERY aggressive Sarcoma Cancer. Her doctor has informed her it will VERY likely Grow more tumors. SOOOO hard to hear that when truly, Brandi would just love her normal life back, Truth is that will likely NEVER happen. It's crazy how minuscule the little things are when you are truly fighting to stay alive. The likely reoccurrence is due to the fact that she still has circulating cancer cells and per her physicians that will likely always be the case. Her next scan for NEW growth is in April, were praying for Clear scans. Brandi Believes HUGELY in prayers as we've seen just how amazing OUR GOD is and we know Prayers work. However she's still pursuing every possible measure to STAY alive and raise her babies. I know that sounds Morbid but i don't want to sugar coat the severity of this cancer and how AGGRESSIVE it is. My sister needs $1200-$1500 in treatments each week that unfortunately isn't covered by insurance. only radiation and Chemo are covered and chemo isn't an option as her cancer doesn't respond to it. So in full transparency her little family is is in over there head and all resources have been exhausted for her continued treatment needs. As you can see her Go fund me has raised to date-$104,000 dollars, which we TRULY have been so blown away by the generosity and are so INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL!!! I want to give y'all a breakdown of where its going.
$95,000 has been used to pay for a medication coming from overseas that is used to kill any possible circulating cancer cells, this is HUGE since Doctors say that she'll always have the circulating cancer cells, this possible extinction of them is the ULTIMATE Goal. She's also spent an additional $50,000 thousand dollars in additional recommended treatments and therapies to help kill the cancer cells and that helped tremendously in the shrinking and detaching of the tumor which is why we believe the tumor removal surgery was so successful. she also just paid 12k for her explant. she is still having treatment weekly all out of pocket. She isn't working, and has been cleared to go back to work PART TIME( 2 days a week), starting May 1st as long as she can tolerate the pain. The income she brings in now on disability and her hubby's retirement from the NAVY is how they are financially surviving, HOWEVER they have depleted all resources now to cover her treatment. Trevor stays home with 5 month old Ryder there sweet baby boy and gets Sassy sweet Sawyer 3 year old off to school each day. As Brandi makes the 2 hour drive to the cancer center 2-3 times a week, before they even wake up. Its not a life for the weak at heart that's for sure! I would love for us to get them to the $150,000 goal to be able to cover her remaining treatments needed. her doctor told her stress is the biggest contributor to reoccurrence of cancer cells and tumor growth. The last thing I want is my sister stressing about if she can afford these treatments. I know so many of you have already been so generous and we will never be able to repay the generosity to everyone but please know you sharing her story can help so much as does every dollar. THANK YOU for your continued support, prayers, love, Words and thoughts. Please keep praying for her, her family, her mental health (this is a huge battle as fear of the unknown is very real) please pray for pain relief, please pray for clear scans in April. Pray she heels from todays surgery well. Please pray we can eliminate the stress factor of money for her needed treatments!!! To know my twin sister Brandi is to be So blessed, she is an Amazing Human , Mama, Wife, Friend & Nurse Practitioner. She's 35 year's old and recently found out at 38 weeks pregnant just 1 week before she had her sweet baby boy that she had a mass that could be Cancerous. Imagine trying to prepare for a baby but at the same time carrying that heavy burden of news when your about to have a baby. No news anyone wants to hear, especially when your welcoming your second sweet child into the world. Fast forward 6 weeks Just after welcoming her sweet Baby Boy Ryder into the world and after lots of testing she got the terrible call no wants to receive. "Mrs. Terra i'm sorry but we need to inform you your biopsy came back as positive for A RARE AND VERY AGGRESSIVE Cancer."

Epithelial Sarcoma is the Final Diagnosis she received and if you google it the most promising outcome says you have 20 months to live. This was an earth shattering day for our family. As I'm certain you can Imagine this has been the most difficult 4 weeks of her life. She's supposed to be celebrating her new baby and enjoying Maternity leave and she's consumed in how the heck to Fight and Survive this terrible Cancer, a cancer that says statistically you wont live another 2 years let alone watch your new baby turn 2. A statistic she is MENTALLY prepared to Prove wrong.
My sister is one of the most hard working, loving, generous soul's you'll ever meet. She would never ask for help, so here I am to ask on her behalf. My sisters treatment plan has only just begun. as this is all so NEW so Fresh and Still so shocking to us all. This cancer is so rare that treatment is still fairly new and being discovered. Chemotherapy is NOT an option as this cancer doesn't respond. Per her surgeon, specialists and Radiation doctors advice she's trying every therapy option they recommend. They told her "Do everything you can, spare no expense your life literally depends on it".

Surprisingly in all of this she has the most faith filled spirit and is clinging to her Faith in all of this as she knows we serve a Mighty God that can and will perform Miracles. We see and hear of them everyday.

However her sweet family cannot incur this expense alone. One medication alone costs $95,000 dollars, and this is only one treatment on the laundry list of treatments that is not covered by insurance and that's for only one years worth of treatments. Brandi isn't working due to 5 hours of treatments a day Monday- Friday, and her sweet husband Trevor is a retired Navy Chief that is a stay at home dad and is needed in that role more today than they ever knew he would be. They simply cannot afford this alone. I honestly don't know anyone that could. What i do know is that my sister and her family are loved by so many people that want to help her fight for her life. I believe we live in a world that hates to see other's hurting, suffering and have an internal desire to help where ever we possibly can. Especially when it hits home like this. This Diagnosis could have been anyones. Cancer doesn't care if you just had a baby or are only 35 years old, or worked your butt off and Finally Graduated school with your Nurse Practitioner license after years of hard work . Cancer doesn't care how healthy you are. So I also pray this is shared by many and Pray this comes across to people that don't know her but have a desire to give and help as well. We want to do everything we as family and friends can to pursue every option to fight to see her survive to raise her sweet babies. To continue to be the amazing wife, daughter, friend and Woman of God that she is. She has such a desire to not only survive this but be a voice of hope to other's that may get a debilitating diagnosis such as hers.

She wants to Give GOD all the glory in her Overcoming story of Miracles were all praying for. Quite honestly thats what this will take MIRACLES . Thankfully our God is in the Miracle business.

Brandi is Married to Trevor Terra, has their sweet 3 year old beautiful daughter Sawyer, and the handsome little guy pictured is Ryder and just 9 weeks old today.
