In honour of Brandi-Lynn Broomhead

My name is Danya, Brandi-Lynn's younger sister, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read her story.

Brandi-Lynn was born October 22, 1982 as a middle child of 3 to Ron and Janet Broomhead. Growing up we were a close family who did so much together and we continued that into our adulthood. We would travel together, go on road trips and family vacations and one of our favourite things to do was go camping as a family and our trips to San Diego and Disneyland.

I loved growing up with us being so close in age as we spent so much time together over the years from sharing a bedroom when we were kids, going to school together, hanging out with the same friend groups, living with each other when we got older and moved out and even having all the same jobs together, which included her latest job. I remember getting the job at Mainland and a year later begging my boss to bring her on to work with me just so we would work together again. I loved it! But one of the best things that her and I did together was be pregnant at the same time and have our little girls 2 weeks apart from each other and got to raise them together.

For those of you that did not know Brandi-Lynn extremely well, she had to navigate life with a rare disease called Addison's Disease. At age 19 she was finally diagnosed and we finally got answers to a number of health questions we had. She managed to fight everyday to live with this disease and to be able to live her life as normal as possible and be the best mom she could be. There is no cure for Addison's Disease only a management plan. This disease caused her to have a weakened to no immune system which meant when she got sick she could end up having a crisis and sent to the hospital where she would spend days or weeks at a time.

Brandi-Lynn was a single mother and when Jax (Marissa) grew up they were really close and had a close bond. They both loved each other so much and did so much together and Brandi-Lynn would always put Jax (Marissa) first and would worry about her more than herself. They loved watching movies together, playing games and building puzzles, going shopping, going on road trips and loved their trips to Disneyland.

Jax (Marissa) has a place to stay with me and is loved and cared for but unfortunately with being blindsided by this tragic event there are a lot of uncertainties that arise for her. I am hoping to be able to start Jax (Marissa) off with a bit of money to help her so she doesn't have to worry about anything while she is trying to cope and grieve. Any amount you are able to donate is truly appreciated and means so much to Jax (Marissa) and the family.

A service will be held at a later date with information to be sent out shortly.
