The once vibrant and ambitious girl found herself sleeping for hours and finding it difficult to perform even basic tasks. A routine check up at the doctor revealed cognitive issues that would require an MRI to
diagnose. It was discovered from this scan that a cancerous medullablastoma was located in her cerebellum and surgery to remove it was required that evening. Upon awakening from the surgery her ability to walk or talk were completely eradicated. A move back to New Orleans was accompanied by a radiation schedule and a chemotherapy schedule projected to be over in May 2016. A full recovery is projected but an intensive regimen of physical, occupational, and speech therapy must be adhered to. Despite these adversities Brandi remains positive and began completion of her masters degree in urban planning at UNO in Fall 2015.
