Branden Bergen is my Super Hero. He
gave the gift of
life so that others can live on. Being an
organ donator
was his final gift of love. Our Branden
earned his wings by teaching us all
how to love unconditionally,
and unselfishly.
My grandson, Branden Bergen, was
born with Klienfelders Syndrome. At
the time there were only 8 known
case in the United States
The identifying markers of this
syndrome are XY Chromosomes.. The
more X chromosomes
determine the severity of issues the
baby will have. Our Branden was born
with XXXXY.
At the time this was the highest
Of the documented cases. There is
now some documented XXXXXY .
We were told Branden would be facing many medical
issues. For example: he’d never be able
to talk or be
able to walk, at maturity they are usually no taller 3to 4 feet tall. The more X
chromosomes the baby is born with the more severe the birth defects
and mental challenges the baby would
have.
The syndromes life expectancy is
generally from birth up to 14 years.
It became our mission to learn as much about this syndrome as we could.
O ur Branden’s determination to survive was endless. He endured numerous
surgeries and too many
challenges for me to list. As he grew one of his biggest frustrations was
communication. His mind was as sharp
as a tack but
because of the structure of his tiny
mouth he couldn’t
articulate his words clearly. He learned
to sign first. When his speech therapist
explained his speech issues and
speech pattern, it opened up a whole
new world of
communication for us all.
The unconditional love and dedication
of his father, his mother and all those
who loved him provided the
solid foundation that made him the
loving young man he became. Branden’s life was full of adventures, hunting,
fishing, bowling, Special Olympics, lots of travel with his dad and with his mom and his 2nd dad. Branden was
blessed to have two parents that new
how to co-parent
and provided very strong blended
families for Branden.
In my eyes, our Branden came into this
life as a special
baby boy and by his Angel Day ,
November 21, 2019,
he had earned his degree in mastering
life’s challenges.
He mastered every physical challenge
In his path because he was so loved and
supported by the dedication and
devotion of his Dad and Mom .
He was our walking, talking, go
everywhere do every
thing 28 year old gentle giant.
The reason for this fund is to help with final expenses
and a Celebration of Life Memorial
Service.
My son recently changed jobs, he had a
life insurance policy on Branden with his previous employer, when he requested it with the new employer he was told
Branden was no longer a minor child
therefore he did not qualify as a
dependent even though he has been disabled since birth. In my eyes thats just
wrong. a dependent be it man, woman
or child is still a dependent .
So there was no life insurance to cover
any of his final expenses.
I am honored to be Branden’s Nana and I look at this Go Fund Me as a last act of
love and a way I can have this
be a loving Thank You Gift from
Branden to his Super Dad and Mom for 28 years of unconditional love and a
lifetime of adventures
Thank you in advance.
In Loving Memory of
Branden Bergen
