Brandeis Summer Program

My name is Lesuy Mejia-Huerta and I am a student at Heights High School in Houston, Texas. As the first in my family to graduate high school, I am deeply devoted to learning more about the college application process. During my research, I’ve found that it is important for high school students to accomplish something meaningful during the summers of their high school life. For my summer this year, it’s the Brandeis Global Youth Summit program.
The Brandeis Global Youth Summit on the Future of Medicine program is a prestigious program for people with a passion for medicine and science who are also leaders in their schools and communities. During the program, I will cultivate experience in the field and absorb knowledge from speakers, researchers, and practitioners, I will explore the great medical issues of our time. I will work with peers in high-energy role-playing simulations to both develop my leadership and team building skills and influence my learning for years to come. As a rising senior, I applied for this program in early January. When I was accepted, I instantly became ecstatic at the sight of my letter. This is an opportunity that can only come literally once in my life and I plan on fully taking advantage of it.
Since that day, I’ve kept count of how long I have left until I leave for Boston and settle down at Brandeis for a week. I only have one concern: the cost. I am unable to pay for this grand experience. I would appreciate any help you can give me to reach my goal.
Tuition: $3000
Airfare: ≈ $600
