Where do we turn at our lowest when the world's weight feels unbearable?
This short film explores that pivotal moment when three struggling individuals find themselves at a breaking point and encounter Jesus Christ.
Three strangers, each battling their demons:
- One facing financial ruin
- Another trapped in the darkness of depression.
- A third is stuck in a toxic relationship, desperate to break free.
Individually, they have lost all hope. But one fateful day, they each meet a compassionate follower of Jesus who invites them to Church. Skeptical yet desperate for something—anything—to change, they take a step of faith.
Through their encounters with Jesus, they experience healing, love, and the peace they’ve been searching for. Their stories reflect the reality of so many people today searching for answers, for purpose, for something greater. This film is here to remind us all: that hope is real, and it has a name Jesus Christ.
Why does this film matter? Branches is more than just a film, it’s a mission to share the transformative power of Christ through storytelling. This film is a way of using our God-given talents to reach those who feel lost, to remind them that no matter how dark things seem, there is hope. Through the art of filmmaking, we aim to create a space where people can see themselves in these stories and realize that healing, peace, and redemption are possible through Jesus.
Who are we? We are three female Christian filmmakers based in Toronto: Jennifer, Laura, and Kellsie, two Latinas and one Irish-Canadian. We love Jesus, and we're doing this for him, he's renewed our hearts, healed us from past trauma, and continues to be the light of our lives. We hope to share what he's done for us with everyone who needs healing and love.
