Bram's Hospital Bills

Hello, thanks for taking time the time to take a look at my fundraiser. My name is Aaron, and this is one of my cats Bram.

On Thursday I took him in to a vet appointment because he was struggling to pee. The vet took xRays and said that he looked to be in incredible amounts of pain and also needed to get his bladder flushed, and bloodwork done. He spent the day at the vet and got the procedure finished. This procedure was $1500. And the Vet said that Bram has vast amounts of crystals forming in his urine. A special diet and Bram being able to pee on his own were the benchmarks I was to be watching for the next couple of days. That night he came home very groggy and extremely thirsty. He started drinking so much water and was panting a lot. Bram then began to throw up all the water he was drinking and the food that he had eaten during the day.

Friday morning it had looked like there was evidence that he had been able to pee on his own. I went to work thinking that everything seemed to be okay. When I got home there was not much improvement in his teetering around and was very slow and drowsy, which were some of the side effects of the medication that the vet had him on. More unfortunately he was not wanting to eat anything and would spit out anything that touched his tongue. There still seemed like there was evidence of him peeing so the vet was feeling okay about his behaviour.

Saturday morning, Bram is extremely drowsy and is not looking good, at all. As a house, we decide to take him back to the vet. Where they say that his urinary tract is actually fully blocked and he will be needing a 2nd bladder flush etc. as well as then transfer him over to a 3-5 night 24-hour care facility. the approximate quote was $6500-$8000 depending on the place they were able to find to transfer him over to. That was really not an option for me. And asked the Vet tech about End Of Life Care.

Miraculously as I was talking to the vet tech my brother and his partner found a 24-hour care Vet Hospital Atlas Animal Hospital. They Quoted us $2000 for the full 72hr care, which included any additional blood test and any other care that needed to get done. We sped over to that Vet hospital and dropped him off. By the time I got to this other hospital, Bram looked extremely sad and was trying to find a dark hiding spot.

That night, Atlas called and said his blood levels were very high and pressed on the possibility of his kidneys failing.

No news is good news as I did not get a call from them in the morning. I followed up with Atlas after work, and they said he was on an IV and getting fluids that way as well as the catheter had been placed so it would relieve the pressure on his bladder. But was still a bit stubborn to eat on his own, and they had actually needed to force-feed him some food before he started to eat on his own.

I hear good things the next couple of days through Monday and Tuesday. Saying that they did another blood test and the levels had returned to normal so I was feeling very optimistic about how his health had rebounded. Atlas Called me Wednesday saying that he had been able to pee without issues that morning and he was ready to be picked up. I was able to go collect my baby boy that evening and bring him home.

That evening he was much more active and wandering around the house, very sadly It did look like Bram was once again struggling to pee. Straining a lot and only a tiny amount coming out.

It is now mid-Day on Thursday and I am needing to decide how to move forward with Bram's care.

I am starting this GoFundMe to ask for monetary assistance so I can still have my sweet soft baby boy Bram with me longer.

Now a little bit about me.

I have been living and working in Vancouver for quite a few years now. With the creeping higher and higher cost of living it has gotten more and more restrictive for the flexibility of my income. these recent months being very difficult for me to have enough left over to set aside for any emergencies. Thank you so much for your time and your generosity in sharing and assistance.
