I am aiming to run the Horsham 10K this year. As we approach 2 years since losing our shining star Will at only 17 years old, I decided I wanted to do something he would approve of to raise money for a couple of the charities who have supported us.

Determination, focus, challenge and movement were what Will was all about so I’m taking those qualities as my inspiration to do this

I’m raising much needed money for Brake and Sussex Air Ambulance (SSK)

Brake is a road safety charity that supports families through a tragedy such as ours. There was also another called Roadpeace doing similar work but they recently disappeared due to lack of funding so it feels important to ensure that doesn’t happen to Brake.

Air Ambulance speaks for itself but is dear to my heart and is a charity any of us could need to call on but doesn’t receive government funding.

I am also running to get a medal as I’ve never had one. Will with his big heart used to say I could have one of his but I always told him they have to be worked for not given. Hopefully he will be looking down on me and will let out a big cheer if I finally earn one for myself.

I wasn’t sure which 10K to do and initially didn’t want to run the Horsham one as I don’t like the time or the route but seeing that it starts and ends at the rugby club and they also have a dinosaur race (both loved by Will) my decision was made for me.
