Brainstorming a Brighter Future: life with a brain tumor

My life changed when I met Christina. Sweet from the core, Christina and I became good friends two years ago while starting our Master's program at BYU, something we both felt called to do, though not fully understanding why. Christina and I were grouped together in our cohort and instantly became a support system for each other while trying to balance work, home, and school (again) life. And Christina is one of those people you're so grateful to have in your life, always remembers your birthday, always has a kind thing to say, can sense when you're down and can always make you smile. She prioritizes people in her life, but also the beauty around her. She loves to read and is a photographer, capturing special moments with a keen eye.
At the beginning of 2025, Christina began to experience headaches, which led to migraines. After a few weeks, she was having trouble sleeping, neck pain, and vision problems that seemed to worsen over time. Doctors did not seem to know what to think except for prescribing more rest, water, and activity. At the beginning of March, Christina was so incapacitated she couldn't see straight, drive, or be out of bed for more than a few hours. After a late-night ER visit and making an appointment with a second optometrist, she discovered swelling on her optic nerves, and the doctor finally sent her to the ICU with a note for the doctor. After an MRI, they found a large tumor on her occipital lobe, which was removed the following day.
Since then, we have found out that the tumor is benign but will most likely return, requiring radiation and more surgery in the future. As Christina does have an amazing friend support group, she does not have any family support. To help alleviate some of this pressure, we are reaching out to the good Samaritans of the world who might be able to help in any capacity. As a classic case of bad things happening to good people, there is no one more deserving of financial support, good vibes, and prayers.
Funds collected will go directly to hospital bills not covered by her insurance for hospital stay, doctors, surgery, tests, physical and occupational therapy, and radiation treatments. Anticipated totals are between $30,000 - $50,000 in this first year.
