BrainBirds' Photo Class
Donation protected
Hey guys! As many of you know, I traveled to Ghana in December 2013 for a volunteer medical mission. The people that I met in Ghana were the happiest I have ever met, not to mention welcoming, hospitable, and appreciative beyond belief. Despite the people and culture of the country being amazing, it is undeniable that Ghana is under-resourced compared to many other countries in the world, and not every Ghanaian citizen has the access to food, clean water, healthcare, and education that they need and deserve. I have recently partnered with a private high school in Ghana's capital, Accra, and will be visiting and teaching at the school (BrainBirds Academy) for 3 months this summer. It is my greatest hope to conduct two sessions of a photojournalism class at the school as I find it so important that these teens learn the tools to share the stories of their country, thus debunking any incorrect stereotypes people might have about life in West Africa. While I am covering the cost of my plane tickets and living expenses while in Ghana, I unfortunately do not have the money to provide students with their own digital cameras. With your help, I am hoping to provide two classes of 15 students with a cheap digital camera that they can use for my course; after the course is over, the cameras will be donated back to the school for use in future photography classes. I will need the money for these cameras as soon as possible, as I will soon have to apply for my temporary visa. All excess money raised will go towards providing BrainBirds Academy with additional academic resources such as new books and school supplies. I really appreciate you helping me out; please check out the donation rewards as a thank you!
