Brain Tumor Surgery for Haley Wagner Renollet

A humble message from my 32 year old daughter, Haley:

Dear friends and family,

"As many of you know, I was recently and unexpectedly diagnosed with a large brain tumor/mass in the left lateral ventricle of my brain, which is extremely rare. It's unfortunately in a very compromising location and is difficult to operate on but will be attempting to on 3/26/20 at University of Michigan Hospital. We still have yet to determine if the tumor is cancerous or benign but will know more about 10 days after the surgery, when the biopsy results are provided. That will determine the exact treatment plan but we've been told that it's going to be a long road, regardless. Ive already been out of work for just under a month and have been told that I will likely be out of work for at least another 2 months after surgery. That of course will greatly depend on if it's a cancer free tumor or not and if any type of rehabilitation is necessary.

The bills are rolling in and I admit, they are scaring me and this process has just begun. The expenses are weighing heavy on myself and husband, as well as my mother (she will kill me for saying that). My husband is working 15 hour days to stay afloat but that cannot carry on for much longer. He will be my primary caretaker and will need to be home with me for several weeks after my surgery and throughout my stay at the hospital. Same goes for my mother who has been missing work to take me back and forth from my appointments at U of M and handling everything for me throughout this journey.

To add to the burdens my family will suffer through, they will need to stay at U of M for an extended period after my surgery and that comes at a cost. Not just missing work, but the cost of travel, food and lodging. They will regularly need to travel back and forth from Ann Arbor to TC to handle matters at home and sneak in a day or two of work to help pay the bills.
It's extremely embarrassing to have to do this and in all honesty, my family wasn't sure if we intended to do it at all but we've been humbled by this diagnosis and know that we need help, even though it's difficult to ask for. Even a dollar will help to cover the cost of food, gas for traveling, deductibles, copays, coinsurance and to help pay our bills while we are out of work for an extended period.

We understand this is a lot to ask and trust me, it's more than awful to have to be the one to ask it, but for what it's worth, we thank you and appreciate you for the love and support. Whether or not you are able to help financially, means nothing to us. We simply appreciate the thought, the care, the kindness, the love. It's helped us to stay positive and optimistic through this emotionally and financially traumatic time.

Much love to everyone and from the deepest depths of our souls, we thank you."
