About a year ago, our mother Yolanda started having issues with her vision. After consulting several optometrists and ophthalmologists, all she was told was that she was suffering from dry eyes. Months went by and her vision was getting dramatically worse. Thankfully, her primary doctor ordered an MRI to see if something else was going on. To our surprise, they found a tumor growing on the right side of the brain that was putting pressure on her right optic nerve, causing her vision problems. We were so lucky to have a doctor that believed her symptoms!
She underwent brain surgery on November 28th at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange. Unfortunately, the tumor had grown and caused some complications during a long surgery. She stayed at the hospital for about a month, but since has been discharged and is recovering at home.
Unfortunately, although she has insurance, the medical bills are not fully covered. She is receiving speech/cognitive, occupational and physical therapy, seeing ear and eye specialists, neurologist, etc. All which come with high co-pays every visit.
We have created this page to help ease the financial stress this has had on our family and help us focus on helping with her long road to recovery. We are still waiting to hear whether she will need radiation treatment to make sure the tumor does not grow back. Any help is very much appreciated.
