Brain Surgery for Lorne Ryan

After years of seeing specialist after specialist and having test after test, we finally have a diagnosis for what is causing Lorne's symptoms.

Lorne has a pineal cyst measuring 1.6 cm in the middle of his brain. This cyst is compressing the cerebral aqueduct and impacting the tectal plate. This compression limits the flow and circulation of cerebralspinal fluid around the brain. If a blockage occurs in this area, a build-up of fluid could be life threatening.

Dr Charlie Teo, a world renowned specialist in this area based in Sydney, Australia, has confirmed Lorne's pineal cyst is the cause of the symptoms that have been affecting his everyday life. These include vision problems, vertigo, nausea, migranes/headaches, body aches and stiffness, fatigue, insomnia, memory loss, brain fog, IBS and more. Lorne has not been able to work for over 12 months due to the impact that these symptoms have on him almost every day. He is not able to participate in all the activities he would like to do with our two beautiful children because of the symptoms that he suffers.

Dr Charlie Teo has given us hope. He believes that removal of the cyst will relieve Lorne's symptoms and help to get him back to leading a life something close to what it used to be. Of course there are no guarantees all symptoms will 100% disappear following surgery. But Dr Teo has had great success with the pineal surgeries he has completed to date and is very optimistic.

Dr Teo proposes to undertake surgery to remove the pineal cyst and partially remove the pineal gland from Lorne's brain. This will be done at the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. Fortunately we do have private hospital cover, but we still need $30,000 to $40,000 up front in order to have the surgery and follow ups (this would be over $80,000 without private health cover).

We are asking for your help to make this surgery happen for Lorne as soon as possible. Lorne really needs this, not only to "get his life back" , but so that he can physically and actively participate in activities with our two beautiful children whom he loves so much.
