Brain Surgery for Dawn
Donation protected
Dawn is a 57 year old mother of 2, grandma of 4 and loved by many! She is a self employed massage therapist operating in Billings, MT.
In May of 2023, Dawn was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor called an acoustic neuroma. This is a slow growing tumor on the vestibular nerve in the brain. Some symptoms include disequilibrium, nausea, tinnitus, migraines, fatigue, convergence insufficiency (the eyes not working together causing double vision) and ear barotrauma (the constant feeling of fullness in the ears as if they need to pop). These symptoms are debilitating and because of them, she is often unable to work or attend family events. This has caused a tremendous financial hardship and reduction in her quality of life.
Dawn is scheduled to have Middle Fossa Craniotomy surgery at the University of California San Diego Medical Center in July. This surgery will help Dawn’s life return almost to normal as well as likely preserve the remaining hearing in her left ear.
We are setting our fundraising goal of $30,000 to cover the costs of her surgery, travel costs (which include airfare and accommodations while in San Diego) and a little cushion to help her maintain her home and business space while in the recovery period and unable to work, which is expected to be 8 weeks minimum. Dawn is self employed so she is unable to file for short term disability during that time to help with the costs.
Any contributions are so appreciated and from her kids, her grandkids and everyone else in her life that loves her, THANK YOU!!
