Hey everyone,
For those of you who don't know our son Remington, he's an amazing, loving, talented 10 year old boy with autism. Most of you see Remington through a social media lense playing piano and being his goofy self. What you don't see is the difficulties he has controlling his emotions. During the COVID pandemic, we saw an extreme decline in Remington's mood. It was difficult getting him out of the house, and outings typically ended up in severe behaviors. Recently he has begun to hurt himself in the midst of these behaviors, and he's said hurtful things to us and his friends that he later regrets. After doing extensive research on how we can help him, we came across the Amen Clinics . These clinics help psychiatrists diagnose and treat patients by looking at their brain, as well as doing an in depth evaluation with the patient through various cognitive testing. From there, they create a custom treatment plan for each patient. Here's a link to Dr. Amens short TEdTalk about his practice- https://youtu.be/esPRsT-lmw8
We believe in our hearts that this is the most thorough solution for figuring out how to help Remington. Not only beat this debilitating obstacle, but to move on to live to his full potential. His first appointment is on September 18 in Manhattan. Please help, if you can.
Thank you all,
Robyn, Dylan, and Remington
