Help Brian Breathe Again 2026
The Story:
Hi everyone. Mr. Brian Tumwebaze is a 33-year-old living in Fort Portal Tourism City, Uganda. Brian is a kind, hardworking man, but right now he is fighting a battle he cannot win alone.
In 2018, Brian underwent life-saving surgery to have a heart pacemaker fitted. For seven years, this device has been his lifeline, keeping his heart beating steadily every single day.
Mr Brian, is now seeking your help for a critical medical need: a "new battery" for his heart. Each gift brings hope, and together, we can change his life again.
The Crisis: A Race Against Time:
The battery in Brian’s pacemaker is now critically low. In November 2025, Brian was told he had only six months of battery life remaining.
As of today, he has only 30 days left before the battery fails. In the UK, a battery replacement is a routine procedure. For Brian in Uganda, it is a life-or-death financial hurdle.
He and his family have worked tirelessly to raise what they can, but they are still far from the total needed. Without this replacement, his pacemaker will stop, and his heart will no longer be able to function on its own.
Why We Need Your Help:
The total cost for the replacement battery, the complex surgical procedure, and the necessary aftercare at Nairobi Hospital is 150,000,000 UGX (approximately £29,867). Through incredible effort, Brian has already raised 30,000,000 UGX (£5,972). We urgently need to raise the remaining balance to secure his surgery.
How the Funds Reach Brian:
Because GoFundMe does not operate in Uganda, I, Jacqueline Baguma, a close family friend, have set up this page to act as a bridge and help Brian reach this critical goal.
100% of the funds raised (after GoFundMe fees) will be sent directly to Brian via Sendwave/WorldRemit or to the Nairobi Hospital account to ensure he receives treatment immediately.
All accountability and receipts will be shared here once he begins his journey of replacing his heart battery.
How You Can Help:
Donate: No amount is too small. Even the cost of a coffee (£3–£5) brings us one step closer to saving Brian's life.
