Brain cancer treatment for Brian Wojdyla age 16
Our beautiful 16 year old boy has been diagnosed with brain cancer and needs lifesaving treatment that is not available in his native Mexico. His immediate treatment will cost $300,000 USD. Brian just turned 16 and is recuperating from his first tumor surgery in Mexico City. He is a kind and generous boy who cares for others, is smart, speaks 3 languages, loves dogs, sports (especially swimming), and is always trying to help others. All his friends adore him. He has a lot of dreams for the future and this disease is destroying it.
Brian's life suddenly changed from school, sports, friends, and family activities to life-threatening disease battles. It started with the loss of hearing in his right ear in 2018, followed by right side facial paralysis and balance problems in mid-2021. Immediately we rushed to perform an MRI and shockingly discovered a brain tumor. The first operation to remove this complex brain tumor was performed on November 29th, 2021 in Mexico without much success due to excessive bleeding, allowing the neurosurgeons only to extract a small biopsy sample. Unfortunately, pathologists confirmed the tumor to be a medulloblastoma type 4 that requires immediate proton therapy, chemotherapy, and possibly a second operation. The tumor has infiltrated the middle cerebellar peduncle and brainstem making it very unlikely that a complete resection can be accomplished without causing considerable neurological damage. Precision is of the utmost importance for his treatment requiring the most advanced radiotherapy called proton therapy which delivers radiation directly into the tumor while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. We hope this treatment will eradicate the tumor giving Brian a second chance to live while not destroying his quality of life.
