BRAIN CANCER - 34yr Taryn mom of 3 boys (2, 4, 6)

Spende geschützt
I am reaching out today on behalf of the Schrader family.  In December of 2019, they received news that no mother of three should ever have to hear, that Taryn (34) has Glioblastoma (A rare form of brain cancer).  When I first heard of the of news I started researching for hours to understand what they were up against.  GMB as it is called, is one of the deadliest cancers in existence and has less than a %5 survival rate for 5 years.  I wanted to do everything to help them out so I started researching alternative sources of treatment only to find that there is very little out there.  The worst part of this story is that Taryn will leave behind her husband Zach and their 3 boys, Dylan (6), Grady (4), and Waylon (2).

Upon initial diagnosis she had immediate brain surgery which they found to be successful.  From there she had to do radiation which sounds bad, and after researching how they do radiation on the brain it literally terrified me.  They have a mold of her face built and she puts it on and they screw her head to a table while they perform this treatment.  Following the radiation she was on Chemo for 1 year.  This is the extent of the treatment that they consider the gold standard for this type of cancer.  Taryn is a nurse practitioner, so she wasn’t as scared as most of us would be and she’s been such a trooper through this entire process.  She now wears something called Optune which is head cap that has a backpack attached to it.  She is required to wear this in order to increase the odds of extending her life to the 5 year marker.  I’m literally blown away at how strong their family is, and they’ve never once asked for help.  To make matters worse, Taryn lost her mother a little over 1 year ago and her father 6 months ago.

This morning, Taryn woke up with numbness in her face and weakness in her left arm.  So naturally you or I have a slight headache or some issue, we don’t think twice about it.  However, they are at Northwestern praying that this hasn’t taken a turn for the worse.  All the while, Taryn and Zach are doing everything in their power to keep their boys lives as normal as possible.  Taryn is no longer able to work and therefore the entire family financial burden has fallen on Zach which is dramatically limiting the time he can spend with Taryn and the boys.

I’m doing this for the Schrader family because Taryn has dedicated her life to helping others in need, and now her and her  family are in need of assistance from all of us.  Anything you can give, including prayers, are greatly appreciated.  All proceeds raised for the Schrader family will allow them to share as much time as possible and contribute to any medical bills or services that will most definitely burden the Schrader family during this time.  Thank you for all of your prayers and donations.

We will do our best to keep you updated on this story, and hopefully be able to report a rare and unique outcome!
