Brain Aneurysm - My Mom needs help
Donation protected
Four weeks ago I would never had imagined that I would be creating a GoFundMe Page.
Life has a way of changing in an instant, which could leave anyone of us in similar circumstances.
My name is Sunita, and this is our life changing moment.
My husband and I moved to Canada to start a new life for ourselves and our two daughters in a country where they would have ample opportunities.
Sadly, this meant leaving my Mom Kanta behind in India. So you can imagine my excitement when she announced she would be coming to visit. I was excited to share my new home and life with her, not to mention the newest addition to our family.
After much anticipation, my Mom arrived May 10th. She was just settling in when on May 18th our lives changed in an instant.
While enjoying our morning tea and some mother and daughter chatter, my mom suddenly complained about pain in the back of her head and then lost consciousness.
I frantically called 911 and she was rushed to hospital. The diagnosis was devastating. Brain aneurysm. Emergency surgery was performed to save her life, but not without life changing effects.
My mom still remains in the ICU at The Health Science Centre in Winnipeg. Mom is paralyzed on her left side and is unable to sit. She requires full time care. The doctor have advised that my mom has extensive physiotherapy ahead of her.
Sending Mom home to India is not an option as she is not medically fit to travel, therefore, we have no other option then to care for her here.
We are grateful that we had taken medical insurance in the amount of $100,000.00 even though prior to this my Mom was a healthy, active and lively 65 year old. However, this insurance was quickly consumed within the first week, leaving the remaining balance of $250,000.00 which continues to grow daily with no end in sight.
No only has this devastated us emotionally it now has the potential to devastate us financially.
It leaves me with so many unanswered questions.
What other choice do we have? How could we deny my mom anything which could lead to recovery?
What kind of future will we be able to provide our children? How far will this reach?
I have created this page to rely on the kindness of others to help minimize the financially devastation while still providing my mom with the care she needs.
As for now I wait....wait to be able to once again share a cup of tea and mother and daughter chatter.
