On August 31, 2023 our community came together in shock and anger when we heard the news of the the stabbing at Countryside High School. Hundreds of students and staff witnessed and were traumatized by the horrific incident. But while we worked ourselves up talking about metal detectors and systemic change, an amazing 16 year old kid from a family that is closely tied to our community fought for his life.

Braeden survived two stab wounds, a 4 hour emergency surgery to repair his stomach, pancreas, and collapsed lung and a 10-day hospitalization. He was out of school for over a month while he began the long journey to regain his physical and mental health. While much progress has been made, a long road is ahead of him.

If you know B or his family, you know that baseball is a huge part of their lives. While his Junior season won’t be the one he planned for, we’ve set this fundraising goal with the hope of seeing him back on the field soon! The GoFundMe will help the Callahans navigate the financial burden of this tragedy so that they can focus on Braeden’s complete recovery.
